While DScholar Press International offers open access tracks, select institutional series, specialized monographs, print editions, and premium digital archive collections are accessible through commercial subscriptions, institutional site licenses, or individual pay-per-view options. This policy governs access, authentication, rights, and technical terms for subscription-based content.

1. Access Tiers & Models

DScholar Press International provides flexible subscription models tailored for academic libraries, research organizations, corporate centers, and individual scholars:

  • Institutional Site Licenses: Provides campus-wide or multi-campus access to digital collections, backfile archives, and new releases for all authorized users.
  • Individual Subscriptions & Chapter Purchasing: Single-user digital access or individual chapter/book purchase options for non-affiliated researchers.
  • Hybrid Collections: Subscription series where individual chapters may be published as Open Access under CC BY-SA 4.0 alongside subscription-only content.

2. Institutional Authentication Methods

To ensure seamless and secure access for subscribing institutions, we support standard academic authentication protocols:

  • IP Address Verification: Direct, seamless access across validated institutional IP ranges (including static IPv4 and IPv6 blocks).
  • Federated Single Sign-On (SSO): Integration via Shibboleth, OpenAthens, or SAML 2.0 for secure off-campus access.
  • EZproxy Support: Optimized configuration support for proxy servers managed by library administrators.

3. Permitted & Prohibited Uses

Authorized users (faculty, registered students, researchers, and library staff at subscribing institutions) are granted specific rights under our subscription agreements:

Terms of Subscription Content Use:

  • Permitted: Downloading, viewing, and printing individual articles or book chapters for personal research, educational coursework, or scholarly study.
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL): Subscribing libraries may fulfill non-commercial ILL requests for individual chapters using secure electronic transmission, provided full citation details are attached.
  • Prohibited: Systematic bulk downloading (via web crawlers or automated bots), commercial redistribution, re-selling, or hosting subscription text on public third-party repositories without written permission.

4. Post- Cancellation Rights & Perpetual Access

Subscribing institutions retain perpetual access to digital content published and paid for during the active term of their subscription. Upon license expiration or cancellation, the press provides continued digital access via dark archives or secure portal download arrangements for the specific subscribed volumes.
