Advertising, Sponsorship and Commercial Independence Policy

Last Updated: August 2026

DScholar Press International is committed to upholding complete editorial autonomy. To safeguard scientific integrity and public trust, this policy establishes strict boundaries governing commercial advertising, external financial sponsorship, and editorial decision-making across all digital platforms, printed volumes, and conference proceedings.

1. Strict Separation of Commercial Interests and Editorial Decisions

Editorial evaluation, double-blind peer review outcomes, and publication decisions operate with absolute independence from revenue generation, commercial partnerships, and corporate sponsorship agreements.

  • Zero Editorial Influence: Advertisers and financial sponsors have no influence over manuscript selection, peer review scheduling, editorial board decisions, or published content.
  • Independence of Reviewers & Editors: Volume editors and external peer reviewers do not receive compensation linked to advertising performance or commercial partnerships.
  • No Quid Pro Quo: Acceptance of a manuscript or book proposal is never conditioned upon purchase of advertising space, print runs, or commercial marketing packages.

2. Advertising Acceptance Standards

Where commercial advertising or promotional banners are permitted on press portals or in print programs, strict standards apply:

  • Relevance & Appropriateness: Advertisements must align with the academic mission of the press (e.g., scientific equipment, academic software, research databases, academic calls for papers, and university programs).
  • Prohibited Content: The press strictly prohibits advertisements that are deceptive, misleading, offensive, politically biased, or related to tobacco, unregulated pharmaceuticals, predatory publishing services, or unethical academic ghostwriting.
  • Clear Distinction: All commercial advertisements or sponsored links must be visually distinct from scholarly content and clearly labeled as "Advertisement" or "Sponsored Content."

3. Corporate Sponsorships & Special Volumes

When academic conferences, institutional grants, or industrial entities sponsor special book series, edited collections, or open access publishing charges:

Sponsorship Governance Guidelines:

  • Transparent Disclosure: All financial backing, institutional funding, or corporate sponsorship must be explicitly disclosed in the manuscript's Acknowledgments or Funding section.
  • Standardized Review Protocols: Sponsored manuscripts undergo the exact same rigorous, double-blind peer review and quality control as non-sponsored submissions.
  • Final Rejection Authority: DScholar Press International reserves the absolute right to reject any sponsored submission that fails to meet academic standards, regardless of funding agreements.
