Editors Responsibilities (PE and MS)

Last Updated: August 2026

DScholar Press International maintains strict publication ethics, intellectual oversight, and editorial integrity across all published monographs, edited book volumes, and scholarly collections. This policy defines the core duties, governance protocols, and ethical expectations for Press Editor (PE) and Volume/Managing Series Editors (MS) managing content within our electronic portal interface.

1. Core Responsibilities of Press Editor (PE)

Press Editor (PE) act as executive publishing officers overseeing general press direction, ethical compliance, and overall editorial workflow integrity:

  • Desk Evaluation & Screening: Review incoming platform submissions for scope alignment, academic standard, formatting compliance, and similarity/plagiarism verification prior to peer review dispatch.
  • Final Editorial Decisions: Hold exclusive authority to accept, request revisions for, or decline manuscripts based on reviewer reports, subject-matter merit, and editorial board consultations.
  • Ethical Oversight & Integrity: Enforce strict adherence to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards, investigating allegations of misconduct, duplicate submission, or data fabrication.
  • Confidentiality Maintenance: Protect the strict confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts, author details, and peer reviewer identities within the management portal.

2. Core Responsibilities of Managing Series & Volume Editors (MS)

Managing Series & Volume Editors (MS) manage dedicated book series, edited collections, or thematic volumes throughout the evaluation pipeline:

  • Peer Review Delegation: Identify and invite qualified domain experts to conduct unbiased evaluations through the editorial platform within established time-frames.
  • Editorial Synthesis: Synthesize reviewer feedback into constructive, structured decision recommendations for authors and Press Editors.
  • Volume Curation & Quality Control: Ensure thematic cohesion, academic accuracy, and structural consistency across all chapters comprising an edited volume or series release.

Conflict of Interest & Neutrality Rules:

  • Recusal Protocol: Editors must immediately recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where financial, institutional, personal, or collaborative conflicts of interest exist.
  • Fair Evaluation Standard: Manuscripts must be judged solely on intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

3. Post-Acceptance Coordination & Correction Oversight

The responsibilities of both PE and MS extend through production and post-publication stages:

  • Proof Review Supervision: Author galley proof revisions must be verified against original reviewer and editor recommendations prior to publication authorization.
  • Errata & Corrigenda Management: Author-requested corrections or necessary post-publication errata notices must be evaluated and approved by Press Editors prior to DOI metadata updates.
  • Retraction Procedures: In rare cases of major ethical breaches or unresolvable content errors, Press Editors manage official retraction notices following international academic standards.
