Post-Publication Author Self Archiving Policy

DScholar Press International supports open science principles and empowers researchers to maximize the reach and impact of their work. This policy defines the rights, permissions, and conditions regarding self-archiving and public distribution of manuscripts across various stages of the publication lifecycle—distinguishing between final published works and submitted, unaccepted research drafts.

1. Published Digital Copies (Post-Publication Self-Archiving)

Once a manuscript, book chapter, monograph, or proceedings volume is formally accepted, formatted, and published digitally by DScholar Press International, authors are granted full freedom to self-archive and distribute the final published version (Publisher's PDF / Version of Record):

  • Allowed Depositories: Authors may upload and host the final published PDF on institutional repositories, personal academic websites, disciplinary archives (such as SSRN or ArXiv), and professional scholarly networks (including ResearchGate and Academia.edu).
  • No Embargo Period: Self-archiving of the published digital copy is permitted immediately upon live online publication on the press website. There are zero embargo restrictions.
  • Attribution Requirement: Shared copies must preserve original publication details, acknowledging DScholar Press International as the publisher and including the official Crossref Digital Object Identifier (DOI) link routing back to the original press landing page.

2. Manuscripts Submitted & Under Review (Unpublished Works)

To safeguard peer review integrity, prevent duplicate publication conflicts, and protect unverified scientific assertions, strict restrictions apply to manuscripts currently undergoing editorial processing:

  • Sharing Restrictions: Public sharing, self-archiving, or online distribution of drafts currently submitted or actively undergoing double-blind or single-blind peer review is strictly prohibited without prior written authorization from the editorial office.
  • Preprint Notice: If a manuscript was deposited as a preprint in an open archive prior to submission to DScholar Press International, the author must explicitly disclose this in the online portal during initial submission. Authors must not update preprint files with reviewer-suggested modifications while the manuscript is under active press evaluation.
  • Confidentiality Preservation: Circulating unreviewed or under-evaluation manuscripts publicly can compromise reviewer double-blind anonymity and trigger automated similarity index (plagiarism) flags within our portal system.

Summary of Archiving Rights by Stage:

  • Submitted Draft (Under Review): Restricted / Not Allowed for public archiving or sharing without prior editorial written consent.
  • Published Digital Copy (Version of Record): 100% Free & Unrestricted self-archiving permitted immediately across all public, institutional, and academic platforms.
