Non-Peer-Reviewed Edited Books and Volumes | Submission & Publishing Guidelines
When an editor initiates a submission under the Non-Peer-Reviewed Edited Books and Volumes category, the manuscript undergoes an internal editorial evaluation rather than an external double-blind review process. This submission track is designed for edited collections that do not require external peer review prior to publication.
Editorial Review Process
Submissions in this category are evaluated through an expedited internal review workflow:
- Scope & Quality Assessment: The handling editor evaluates the overall collection to ensure language clarity, editorial consistency, and adherence to press standards.
- Technical & Plagiarism Check: All chapters are screened for similarity standards, proper citation practices, and manuscript integrity.
- Expedited Timeline: Volume editors receive a final editorial decision on an accelerated timeline, facilitating prompt publication schedules.
Step-by-Step Submission Process for Editors
Volume editors submitting an edited collection must complete the 5-step submission wizard carefully to ensure all chapter authors are correctly assigned:
- Start & Select Category: Select Non-Peer-Reviewed Edited Books and Volumes as your submission category. Ensure you select Edited Volume as the submission format in this initial step to unlock the chapter management features.
- Upload Files: Click Add File to open the upload window. Select the appropriate Submission Component (e.g., Full Manuscript, Book Proposal, or Preface/Introduction), upload your file, review the file details, click Complete, and then click Save and Continue.
- Enter Catalog Metadata: Enter the main book Title and Subtitle (optional), followed by the complete book Abstract. Scroll down to the Contributors section and click Add Contributor to enter the name, email, and country for each chapter author. Important: Select Chapter Author as their role for these entries, reserving Volume Editor only for primary editors.
- Add Chapters (Crucial for Edited Volumes): A dedicated Chapters section will appear because you selected "Edited Volume" in Step 1. Click Add Chapter, enter the specific Chapter Title, and check the boxes next to the contributors added in Step 3 who authored that specific chapter. Repeat this step for every chapter in the volume before clicking Save and Continue.
- Confirmation: Review the submission details, click Finish Submission, and confirm the final prompt to deliver the complete package to our editorial team.
Chapter Preparation Guidelines
To maintain publication uniformity and clean metadata indexation, submitted chapters must follow these formatting criteria:
Contributor Identification
- Since external anonymization is not required, author names, institutional affiliations, and acknowledgments may remain directly within individual chapter files.
- Ensure that author details entered in Step 3 match the names and affiliations printed within the manuscript chapters.
- Include a brief 1-page author profile for volume editors alongside the introductory materials.
Document Specifications
- File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx).
- Font & Layout: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Chapter Structure: Each chapter must include a Chapter Title, Abstract (150–200 words), Keywords (5–7 terms), Main Text with clear headings, and References (if applicable).
Publication Options Upon Acceptance
Once an edited volume completes internal review and is accepted, volume editors can select their preferred access model and publication format:
Access Models
- Open Access: Free global digital access for every chapter, maximizing visibility, citation potential, and audience reach.
- Subscription Access: Available to institutions, libraries, and readers through traditional purchase channels.
Format Combinations
- E-Book Only: Digital release (PDF/EPUB) with dedicated DOIs for the book and individual chapters, plus an e-ISBN.
- Print Book Only: Physical volume available in Paperback or Hardcover with a Print ISBN.
- E-Book + Paperback: Dual release providing instant digital access alongside a paperback edition (includes book/chapter DOIs, e-ISBN, and Print ISBN).
