Salami Publication Policy
DScholar Press International does not permit salami publication or salami slicing. This policy applies to all publications, including peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed books, scholarly monographs, edited volumes, conference proceedings, working papers, and research reports. Authors are expected to present research findings in a complete, transparent, and academically justified manner.
Salami publication refers to the inappropriate division of a single research project, dataset, or study into multiple manuscripts primarily to increase the number of publications without providing a distinct scholarly contribution. It includes the publication of overlapping analyses, repeated reporting of substantially the same data, or fragmentation of research findings into separate manuscripts where a single comprehensive publication would be more appropriate.
Authors must ensure that each submitted manuscript represents an independent and original scholarly contribution with its own clearly defined objectives, methodology, analysis, results, and conclusions. Where multiple manuscripts originate from the same research project or dataset, authors must clearly disclose this relationship at the time of submission and provide copies or references to related publications or manuscripts under consideration elsewhere.
If more than one publication arises from the same dataset or research project, each manuscript must address a distinct research question or objective and must provide substantial additional scholarly value. The relationship between related publications must be fully explained, and all previous or concurrent publications must be appropriately cited.
The editorial office may evaluate related submissions, published articles, conference papers, working papers, reports, preprints, theses, or other publicly available materials to determine whether the submitted manuscript constitutes an independent scholarly contribution. Similarity detection software and editorial assessment may be used as part of this evaluation.
Where salami publication is suspected, the editorial process may be suspended while the matter is investigated. Authors may be requested to provide explanations, supporting documentation, or copies of related manuscripts and publications. If salami publication is confirmed before publication, the manuscript will be rejected. If it is identified after publication, the Press may issue a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action.
Failure to disclose related publications or deliberate fragmentation of research findings may be treated as publication misconduct. Depending on the seriousness of the case, the Press may notify the authors' institutions or funding organizations and may restrict future submissions.
DScholar Press International recognizes that large research projects may legitimately generate multiple publications when each manuscript presents a separate research question, independent analysis, and distinct scholarly contribution. Such publications are acceptable only when they are transparent, properly cross-referenced, and comply with the publication ethics policies of the Press.
DScholar Press International maintains this policy to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, promote responsible research reporting, and ensure that every published work represents a meaningful and independent contribution to academic knowledge.
