Hybrid Publishing Policy
DScholar Press International offers a hybrid publishing model that combines open access and subscription-based distribution options to meet the diverse needs of authors, institutions, and readers. This policy applies to all publications, including peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed books, scholarly monographs, edited volumes, conference proceedings, working papers, and research reports.
Under the hybrid publishing model, authors may choose to publish their work as open access or as traditional access, depending on the publishing agreement and applicable terms. Open access publications are made freely available online under an appropriate Creative Commons licence, while non-open access publications are distributed through controlled access channels such as print editions, institutional access, or pay-per-view platforms.
Editorial decisions under the hybrid publishing model are based solely on scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, and compliance with publication ethics and research integrity standards. The choice of access model does not influence acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
Authors selecting open access under the hybrid model retain copyright and grant DScholar Press International a licence to publish and disseminate the work under agreed terms, typically including a Creative Commons licence such as CC BY 4.0. Authors selecting non-open access publication grant the Press the necessary publishing rights for distribution and archiving under the terms specified in the publishing agreement.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all third-party content included in their manuscripts is cleared for the selected publishing model. This includes obtaining necessary permissions for copyrighted materials and ensuring compliance with licensing requirements for both open access and non-open access distribution.
Any applicable publication charges, including article processing charges or book processing charges for open access publication, are communicated transparently to authors prior to acceptance. Non-open access publications may involve different cost structures depending on format, distribution, and production requirements.
The Press ensures that all published content, regardless of access model, is archived, preserved, and indexed where applicable to support long-term discoverability and scholarly impact. Metadata standards and persistent identifiers may be applied to enhance accessibility and citation tracking.
DScholar Press International maintains this hybrid publishing model to provide flexibility in dissemination while ensuring consistent editorial standards, ethical publishing practices, and global access to scholarly knowledge.
